If We All Had Wings
In early 2016 a group of friends came together to raise funds for local families facing financial hardship while undergoing cancer treatment.
Skye Petho, Necia Waghorn and Sue Jogever are the angels behind If We All Had Wings, and Newman Communications is so pleased to work alongside these wonder-women and offer PR support on a pro bono basis.
If We All Had Wings is an arts-based fundraising initiative that involves art installations that encourage public participation, the sale of beautiful laser cut wings and regular special fundraising events.
A story close to our hearts, we couldn’t wait to share it. Newman Communications sent a series of regular media releases crafted with care and shared with key journalists.
To help spread the word as this group spread their wings, we drummed up as much media interest as possible. We secured the front page of our local community newspaper, as well as several other print and radio news reports.
We also worked closely with Mid North Coast Local Health District and Mid North Coast Cancer Institute to tell the story of how the funds are making a real difference in people’s lives.
110 people attended the first sell out event raising an amazing $18,000. The first round of funds will be distributed to 60 local families to make life a little easier while they undergo cancer treatment.
The wings are flying proudly across Port Macquarie and everyone’s social media feeds are filled with images taken in front of the blue wall and wings. The support from the community and the local media has been incredible!
Plans are now underway for the second art installation and exciting event – and we can’t wait to help out!
