Tastings on Hastings

Brief

Newman Communications was engaged to promote the 2014, 2015 and 2016 Tastings on Hastings events to the community through the media.

Proudly presented by Port Macquarie-Hastings Council, Tastings on Hastings is the largest food and wine festival on the NSW Mid North Coast, attracting thousands of people from the local area, regional NSW and Sydney.

Solution

Newman Communications became an integral member of the event team.

Working with a diverse range of stakeholders, including Port Macquarie-Hastings Council and Destination NSW, we designed and implemented a long term media program targeting local and regional media.

Our aims were to grow event patronage, leverage the involvement of celebrity chefs Peter Kuruvita (2014), Matt Moran (2015), Matt Wilkinson and Matt Golinski (2016)  acknowledge sponsors and exhibitors, and contribute to the development of the local food and beverage industry.

Each year we shared the stories of the chefs, farmers, producers and artisans at the heart of the Tastings on Hastings brand. Our media program combined carefully crafted key messages, media releases, contributed articles, magazine advertorials, radio and TV interviews, launch events and media hosting.

Results

Over the three years, news about Tastings on Hastings reached far and wide, with more than 200 media impressions right across the Mid North Coast of NSW from the Great Lakes to Grafton and everywhere in between.

The event achieved the largest crowd to date in 2016, with more than 20,000 locals and visitors passing through the gates during the festival.
